How to 'Buy' a boat
Over the two years that Boatshed Grand Union has been selling boats on the Inland Waterways, several questions have recurred time and time again.
With more 'first-time' boaters entering the market. it seemed a good opportunity to bring all these queries together and give comprehensive answers in a series of blogs. Many buyers in the present market are looking for an alternative lifestyle or just an alternative form of housing which will save them money. As experienced boaters will be aware of there are many pitfalls on the way to owning a boat and many myths that need to be dispelled about living on a boat.
At Boatshed Grand Union we consider it an important part of our job to advise buyers and guide them through the process of choosing and buying a boat that will serve their particular needs and aspirations.
In a forthcoming weekly series of blogs, we will cover how to choose the best type of boat for you. The economics of buying a boat and what to budget and finance options. Surveys and other checks to ensure you buy a sound boat. Moorings, licensing and British Waterways regulations. Maintenance and equipment. We will also look at learning to handle a boat and opportunities for training.
In all these areas we will be providing links to further information and sources of help and ideas.
So be sure to return to boatshedgrandunion.com on a regular basis. Not only to search for the ideal boat for you, but also to read the weekly blog.
